Transport (shipping, air, road and rail)

Transport has been a long-standing practice of the firm with special focus on the following areas:

• Shipping: the firm represents clients in all aspects of shipping law and related disciplines, such as ship acquisition and ship finance, international tax planning and employment, all within an integrated practice. It offers specialist shipping advice in the areas of wet and dry litigation, mortgage enforcement and ship or cargo arrest, pollution and insurance. It has acted for banks, owners, charterers, shippers, carriers, P&I Clubs, insurers and all other intermediaries and agents involved in the shipping market. The firm was awarded the Shipping Law Firm of the Year 2021 in Portugal.

• Air: the firm’s aviation law expertise extends to advising on issues concerning carriage by air, and associated cargo claims. It also provides advice on insurance policy wordings, coverage and subrogated claims, aviation product liability, airport and ground handling liabilities and slot licensing. It has advised on finance leases and operation leases and aircraft mortgages and liens. Its team of lawyers are experienced in providing aviation law advice on regulatory and competition issues in the EU market, including slot licensing. It has also represented clients in aviation accidents litigation.

• Road haulage/CMR: the firm has represented haulers, receivers and major insurers in litigation arising from road transport throughout Europe, including defending claims for damages and enforcing their rights. Its experience is in multimodal transport (carriage by sea, road, rail and air), freight forwarding, logistic contracts, agency and transport management and related aspects.

• Rail transport: the firm offers similar legal services for rail cargo transport.
