Carlos Soares has worked in legal practice since 1989, mainly in civil and criminal laws litigation, white-collar crime (including computer crime), arbitration and corporate law, corporate restructure and insolvency and mergers and acquisitions.

He taught law (especially Civil and Criminal Procedures and Contract Law) between 1991 and 2010 at the University of Lisbon School of Law.
